Judith Freeman

Judith Freeman

Judith Freeman from Vancouver, Washington began hybridizing lilies more than 40 years ago and created The Lily Garden in 1979. In the beginning, they did everything by hand, even the planting, digging, and watering. As they’ve grown and moved fields and bulbs over the years, they’ve experienced all sorts of weather and growing conditions, providing real life testing of the endurance, hardiness, and garden reliability of the lily hybrids they have been developing in all that time.

Judith's academic background in genetics and botany has led to many years of delight in studying lilies along with breeding, growing and propagating them. It’s also a pleasure to share what she has learned by teaching many classes and workshops over the years.

In her presentation Ms. Freeman will talk about "Color Patterns in Lilies: Pigments, Environment, Genes, and Chromosomes".
